Above The Timberline Author: Gregory Manchess Publication date: Octo Review date: Octo Rating: (3/5 stars) I walked into a bookstore the other day, and Above The Timberline just seemed to leap off the shelf at me. The cover artwork was gorgeous, the book itself was jutting out into the aisle, as if begging to be picked up. Manchess’ widescreen novel, Above the Timberline, was released by Simon & Schuster / Saga Press October, to starred reviews. The book is written by Greg and fully illustrated with oil paintings across pages.

Think of it like this: someone draws a horizontal line on a mountainside; above that line, there are no trees. This imaginary line on the Earth is called the timberline, or the tree line. The timberline is usually a point where there isnt enough air, heat, or water to keep.   Above the Timberline is a visually stunning book with a story that doesn’t quite live up to the promise of its art. The sci-fi mystery subplot loses steam when the Singleton men are reunited.
